In 1844, King Thieu Tri, the fourth king of the Nguyen Dynasty, ordered the construction of Dieu De Pagoda to bring blessings to the people.

However, it was mostly damaged during the French colonial period in 1885. There were restoration attempts in 1889 and 1953, but they were unable to restore the original grandeur of the pagoda.

In 1904, a storm destroyed the pagoda. By 1910, the pagoda’s Dao Nguyen Tower was demolished, leaving only two works: Co Lau and Trung Dinh.

In 1953, the pagoda was renovated with the help of Buddhists.
